 Great! Especially for those of us who eat too much sugar!, 2008-03-07
I'm a sugar-holic, I admit it. I love chocolate, and everything else I shouldn't have. For years, I have also had autoimmune problems which have caused my body to not resolve illness easily. As a result, I have had problems with candida overgrowth, among other issues. It has caused skin problems, exacerbated digestive problems, etc.
Since I have been taking this product, it's helped with the candida problems immensely. In fact, I noticed that when I take it, I don't crave sugar or simple carbs NEARLY as much. In fact, as long as I remember to take it daily, it really keeps my cravings in check. My skin has also cleared up immensely, and my scalp no longer flakes.
After reviewing some of the research on acidophilus, I came to realize it's because once the candida albicans organism overgrows in your system, it actually "roots" in your digestive tract and releases chemicals into your bloodstream which effect your neurochemical balance, and thus cause you to crave the very things that help to fuel its growth. Sneaky candida! Anyhow, acidophilus is a well-known antagonist of candida albicans. It's also integral in helping to restore the natural flora (good bacteria) in your digestive tract. Personally, I can attest that when I run out of this product, I feel pretty crummy. My skin breaks out again, my scalp flakes up, I don't sleep well, my digestion gets worse, and I crave sugar all the time. As you can guess, I try not to be without it. It's not a panacea, but it's darned close.
This one, by the way, is allergen-free. It's perfect for people with gluten and other allergies. It's also the best ratio/highest dosage I've seen, and the price is sublime. Just be aware: you definitely need to keep it refrigerated!
